INTERMEDIATE TO SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER

about the job

We currently have opportunities for Intermediate to Senior Environmental Engineers based out of our Victoria, British Columbia office. The ideal candidate(s) will have experience working in the Southern Vancouver Island market.

Your Responsibilities
  • Independently managing a variety of environmental investigation projects (Phase I, II ESA’s/Stage 1, 2 PSIs II, Detailed Site Investigation, Remediation). 
  • Project planning, implementation, coordinating fieldwork (in town and out of town). 
  • Review of project budgets and expenses to ensure good project performance. 
  • Preparation of reports for due diligence investigations, and submissions to the BC Ministry of Environment & Climate Change Strategy for legal instruments. 
  • Preparing environmental proposals and workplans. 
  • Management of provincial and/or federal contaminated sites assessment and remediation projects.
  • Mentorship of junior and intermediate professionals. 
  • Experience with hazardous material surveys/mitigation projects is considered an asset. 
  • Management of construction environmental monitoring projects.
The Skills, Knowledge, and Ability We Seek
  • Five to 10 years of environmental consulting experience in BC. Candidates with additional experience will be considered. 
  • University degree in Environmental Science or Engineering. 
  • Professional status or designation (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag.). 
  • Team player.
  • Knowledge and experience working with First Nations in BC and/or First Nations membership.
  • Demonstrated project management experience on a variety of small, medium and large projects.
  • The ability to deal tactfully and effectively with clients and co-workers. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a high demand, fast paced environment. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. 
  • Strong written and communication skills. 
  • Business development and marketing skills.

Senior Civil Engineering Technologist

About the job
We currently have an opportunity for Intermediate to Senior Civil Engineer Technologists / Technicians based out of our Victoria, British Columbia office. The role includes civil engineering design and drafting, with direct supervision from an engineer, construction inspection, and project support.
Responsibilities may include:
  • Preparation of storm, sanitary and watermain drawings
  • Preparation of roadworks drawings including plan, profiles, sections
  • Preparation of servicing concept and zoning plans
  • Preparation and design of Stormwater Management Plans and calculations, and Erosion and Sediment Control Plans
  • Preparation of Detailed design drawings to support both subdivision and building permit applications.
  • Project planning, implementation, coordinating fieldwork (in town and out of town).
  • Strong competency with CADD and Civil 3D with a minimum 5 years experience working with this software.
  • Coordination with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies and subconsultants.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • 15-20 years of Civil/ Municipal Infrastructure Engineering in BC. Candidates with additional experience will be considered.
  • University degree in Civil Engineering or registration with AScT.
  • Professional status or designation (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., AScT).
  • Knowledge and experience working with First Nations in BC and/or First Nations membership.
  • Demonstrated project management experience on a variety of small, medium and large projects.
  • The ability to deal tactfully and effectively with clients and co-workers.

Environmental Technologist I

Role
We currently have an opportunity for an Environmental Technologist I based out of our Victoria, British Columbia office. The role includes environmental monitoring, field sampling, report writing, and project support.
Responsibilities may include:
  • Environmental and construction field monitoring
  • Participation in all facets of environmental or contaminated site projects, including phase I & II ESA and remediation
  • Sampling and monitoring of soil, sediment, surface water, groundwater and soil vapour
  • Conducting independent analyses and interpretations of data
  • Assisting in production of environmental reports
  • Developing opportunities with existing and potential clients
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Relevant degree or technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or related
  • 1-3 years relevant previous experience (preferred)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS or AutoCad
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence

Intermediate Civil Engineer

Role
We currently have an opportunity for an Intermediate Civil Engineer based out of our Victoria, British Columbia office. In this role you will work as part of a team completing deliverables on a variety of commercial, industrial, and residential design projects.
Responsibilities may include:
  • Preparation of cost estimates
  • Design of civil systems including municipal water, wastewater, drainage conveyance facilities and subdivisions
  • Design of systems including pump stations and other equipment associated with water and wastewater utilities
  • Perform constructability and field reviews
  • Preparation of documentation for design projects and reports
  • Coordination with clients, preparation of scope changes, and project task / budgetary management
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering, or related field
  • Eligibility within 18 months for registration as P.Eng (preferred)
  • 3-5 years previous experience with civil engineering, design, construction inspection
  • Knowledge of Municipal water / wastewater / drainage conveyance infrastructure
  • Experience with proposals and job scoping
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence
